Information for Band A applicants

Why am I in Band A?

Band A is for people in urgent housing need and as a Band A member, you will have a very good chance of getting a home when you bid.

As Band A is for urgent housing need only, Under One Roof expects you to make bids as soon as possible.

We understand that you will have ideas about where you want to live and which type of home you would like to live in but please remember the time you are allowed to be in Band A is limited.

This section of our website explains the bidding process to you, where we will advertise and how often. It is important that you bid on a regular basis for homes you are interested in living in.

What happens after you have been in Band A for more than 6 weeks?

If you have not found a property after 3 advertising cycles (6 weeks) then the Under One Roof team will examine your bidding history and may ask you to attend an interview to discuss if you need further help in bidding.

Once you have had a 6 week interview you will be allowed two more bidding cycles in which to bid. After this period of time, if you still haven't found a suitable home then the Under One Roof team will consider demoting you or make you two offers of accommodation outside of the usual process.

What happens if I refuse these offers?

You will be demoted from Band A to the band you were assessed in prior to the Band A being awarded. You will still be able to bid but won't have priority of Band A applicants.

If you are in Band A because you are homeless then at this stage the Council may consider discharging its duty to you. Throughout the process all applications looked at on an individual basis and exceptional circumstances will be considered.
