What is bidding?
Bidding is expressing an interest in a home that is advertised. Here is a quick bidding checklist:
- See a home you like
- Check it is in an area you want to live in
- Check it is the type of home you are able to bid for (see below)
- Place your bid
Remember, you can have up to three bids every two weeks but cannot bid for the same home more than once.
Please note: You should only bid on properties you are genuinely interested in - you do not need to use all three bids.
If you are interested in a home you see in our advert, which is in an area you want to live in and is the type of home you are eligible to bid for, then you are able to bid. You are advised to only bid for properties that you would like to live in. It is up to you to contact us to tell us which homes you are interested in.
How do I bid?
When you have looked at what is available and chosen a home you are interested in, you can bid through this website, by text or by calling the Under One Roof team on 01744 63 63 63.
You will need your Under One Roof membership number and the reference number of the home or homes you are interested in. You will need to quote both of these when you make a bid.
Bidding online
You can use this website to search and bid for properties online 24 hours a day when the bidding is open.
You will need to be a member of Under One Roof to bid online, and you will also need to register to use our online services. You must have your membership details and an email address to register online.
Once you have registered to use Under One Roof's online features, you will need to log in to your account every time you want to bid for a home. Once you have logged in you will be able to see the properties that you are eligible for and other details about available homes, including their location.
To place your bid choose the 'Express An Interest,' option. This will take you to the 'Make a Bid,' screen.
You will be shown the list of properties that you are eligible to bid on. To find out more about a property you are interested in, click on the photo or the advert reference number. You will then be shown further details and a map of the location of the property.
When making your bids simply select the buttons at the side of the property to indicate if it is your 1st, 2nd or 3rd preference. Once you have made your choice click on the green CONFIRM button.
A Bid Confirmation screen will then appear which will show details of the bids you have made.

How do I change or delete a bid/s?
If you decide that you want to change or delete any of your bids you must clear your current selections and start again. Choosing to clear your bids will delete all your choices.
Remember to click on the CONFIRM button to submit your new choices. Once a new bid has been placed you will see the 'Bid Confirmation,' screen. This screen shows you the bid/s that you have placed.
Bidding by Text
You can submit your bids by text message 24 hours a day when the bidding is open. To bid by text simply start your text message with your membership number, followed by your date of birth eg 12345 12061971. Then type in up to three property reference numbers. It is important to leave a space between each reference number. If you place three bids your text will look like this:

12345 12061971 001104 002104 016104

Then send your bids to: 07700 38 63 63.
A confirmation message will be sent when your text is received. This number can only be used for submitting text bids. Standard network rates will apply.
How often can I bid?
Available properties will be advertised every two weeks and Under One Roof members can express an interest in up to three homes every time we advertise. You cannot bid for the same home more than once per advertising cycle.
Under One Roof aims to provide you with enough information to make an informed decision. We will tell you:

- How much it costs to live there
- Information on local amenities
- Number of rooms
- Which type of applicants will be preferences e.g. families, single people or older people

Please note that many of the properties you could bid for will have a tenant living in them who is preparing to move on. This means that there is a small chance that they might change their mind or you might have to wait several weeks before they move out and the property is ready to move into. If your bid is successful we will give you a provisional date for moving in.

The closing date for bids will always be the Tuesday after the advert has appeared at5pm.

What am I eligible to bid for?
The table below sets out the property type that applicants are allowed to bid for according to their household composition.
Applicants who have a permanent carer will normally be offered a property with an extra bedroom if proof of this arrangement can be provided.
Single people with no such needs will not be eligible for a two bedroomed house and as a general principle will not be allocated house-type accommodation unless it is a one bedroom house.
For the purposes of offering accommodation applicants who are pregnant will be considered for family housing on production of their MAT B1 form.
Feedback on recent lettings
Information about recent lettings can be found on our website. The feedback will show the property and the band that the successful person was in. This may help you when you are making future bids. We will only publish the results once a tenant has signed a tenancy agreement for a home.
