Information for Band A applicants

band aWhy am I in Band A?

Band A is for people in urgent housing need. As Band A is for urgent housing need only, Under One Roof expects you to make bids as soon as possible.

We understand that you will have ideas about where you want to live and which type of home you would like to live in, but please remember...

The time you are allowed to be in Band A is limited.

The booklet you received with your application form explains the bidding process, where we will advertise and how often. It is important that you bid on a regular basis for homes you are interested in living in.

What happens after I have been in Band A for more than 6 weeks?

If you have not found a property after 3 advertising cycles (6 weeks) then the Under One Roof team will review your bidding history and may contact you to discuss if you need further help in bidding. We will take a number of factors into consideration, including a check on if a suitable property has been advertised that meets your assessed needs.

Throughout the process all applications are looked at on an individual basis and exceptional circumstances will be considered.

Once you have had a 6 week review, you will be allowed two more bidding cycles in which to bid. We can give you further support to help you make a successful bid. After this period of time, if you still haven't found a suitable home then the Under One Roof team reserve the right to change/move your application from Band A into another band.

What happens if I refuse these offers?

If you are not bidding or have been made suitable offers and you refuse them then you will be moved from Band A. You will still be able to bid but won't have priority of Band A applicants, instead your band will reflect your reviewed housing need and your registration date will be changed to the date that you were moved to the lower band.

If you are in Band A because you are homeless, this can be reviewed by St Helens Council which will reconsider whether you are still a priority.
