New information about accommodation for older people
Under One Roof is committed to providing homes to suit the needs of local people. To make applying for sheltered housing easier, we've made some changes to the way we advertise these properties.
From June 1 2011, sheltered housing properties will now be advertised as Specialist Accommodation for Older People (people over the age of 55) and you will no longer require a Needs Assessment before bidding on these properties.
Specialist Accommodation for Older People will cover the following options:
- 55 Plus with Scheme Manager Service (currently called Category 2). These properties are a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom flats and bungalows with support from a scheme manager. A Needs Assessment will be completed when the property is viewed.
- 55 Plus with Emergency Alarm Equipment (currently called Category 1). These properties are mainly 1 and 2 bedroom bungalows, with a few available flats. A needs assessment is no longer required for these properties.
Depending on your circumstances you can also bid on other 1 or 2 bedroom flats or houses. A single person can bid on a 1 or 2 bedroom flat or a 1 bedroom house and a couple can bid for a 1 or 2 bedroom flat or house.
